The Census Bureau released new data today on health insurance coverage.

Idaho’s uninsured rate did not change from 2016 to 2017. One in ten Idahoans (10.1%) do not have health coverage, leading many residents to forego necessary medical care.

States that have expanded Medicaid have a lower uninsured rate across all income levels, including among income groups that do not qualify for health insurance through Medicaid.  There are 172,000 Idahoans without health insurance. Idahoans have the opportunity to vote on expanding Medicaid this fall, which would give many low-wage working families access to health care.
